Whenever you leave your car, always take your keys with you, lock all the doors, place everything that could attract the attention of thieves into the trunk, and select parking areas that are busy and well-lit.
Never leave the car running when you are not in it, even for a few minutes.
Never leave personal objects (purse, camera, briefcase, purchases, etc.) in your car, instead place them in the trunk of your vehicle. This is especially true during the holiday season when thieves are routinely trolling the parking lots.
When you park your car, get into the habit of turning the front wheels and applying the parking brake. This way, thieves using trailers will have a lot of trouble taking your car.
